Blepharoplasty Procedure?

What kind of a surgery is required?

After deciding to have blepharoplasty, you need to share your expectations with your doctor. Before the operation, your doctor will ask you detailed questions about your health condition. You should let your doctor know about all your health problems. You must mention your vision related problems, whether you are a smoker or not or whether you take any regular prescription drugs. Do not forget to tell your doctor if you use a contact lens.

Aesthetic eye lid surgery takes about 1-3 hours depending on whether both eyelids will be operated or not. The purpose of aesthetic eye-lid surgery is to remove excessive fat and skin formed depending on eye structure and age to restore a youthful and energetic appearance. This surgery can be performed with local or general anesthesia. However in these types of surgeries we prefer general anesthesia for your comfort.

Generally in blepharoplasty, excessive skin and fat is removed together from upper eyelids. Lower eye-lids are a different situation. In case of lower eyelids, at times excessive fat bags are removed together with excessive skin and at other times, depending on sagging of the mid-face, fat tissue may be preserved and mid-face lift can be done. Your doctor will discuss the suitable technique in person and then decide. The purpose is to reverse the signs of ageing and help regain a youthful and fresh appearance. In some patients where eyelid sagging is extreme, visual impairment may be an issue. I recommend you to clarify with your doctor, before the operation, the changes you wish to see on your face

What should be kept in mind in blepharoplasty is to approach the eye as a part of the face instead of an independent area, since the problem comes with multiple aspects, so cheeks, forehead and temporal side should also be evaluated. The results are much better and long-lasting when combined with operations on forehead, mid-face and other parts of the face.
