How Many Types of Eyelid Surgery are There?

Patients often don’t know the differences and how to choose between different types of eyelid surgeries they should have. Therefore we will discuss the types of eyelid surgery in detail.

Be it a patient who wants to change their appearance or experiencing functional problems with his/her eyelids, eyelid surgery can make the area surrounding the eye much younger and functional. The eyelids can give our face a refreshed or rested image as well as make us look more tired and unhappy.

Eyelid Surgery which is also known as blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure to restore the appearance of the eyelids. This surgery can both be performed on upper lids or lower lids as well as on both.

Eyelid Surgery

Some may have saggy skin that creates folds or disturbs the natural contour of the upper eyelid, which could sometimes cause visual impairments. Eyelid lift surgery is suggested for this type of eyelids. Its aim is to remove excess skin from the upper eyelids and reduce sagginess from the lower eyelids. It's also called an eye lift.

Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty surgery removes the excess skin on the eyelid and reduces the fat that causes swelling. During blepharoplasty of the upper eyelid, excess skin that hangs onto the eyelashes is removed and the eyelid muscles are stretched.

The procedure is similar to lower eyelid blepharoplasty. Patients can continue to normal activities after 7 to 10 days following blepharoplasty. About two weeks after the eyelid surgery, the bruising and swelling of the patient's face health.

Ptosis Repair Surgery

Ptosis is a medical condition that causes droopy eyelids. Either both eyelids or only one can be droopy. If the eyelid droops too much, it may partially or completely block the pupil and interfere with the vision. Both children and adults can be affected by ptosis, which is usually seen as a result of aging. This is because the eyelid muscles weaken with age. Ptosis Repair Surgery involves lifting the upper eyelids.  The surgeon can also trim away excess fat and skin during the external approach. The ptosis can also be repaired internally with no incision over the eyelid.

Eyebrow Lift

An eyebrow lift, also known as a forehead lift, pulls up drooping brows and eliminates the horizontal lines and wrinkles that can make you appear angry, sad or tired. The muscles and tissues are reorganized in this operation in order to smooth the forehead, raise the eyebrows and reduce the frown lines.

There are many different types of eyebrow lifts. We can perform an eyebrow lift for lifting the eyebrows laterally or completely via an endoscopic approach. There are many factors to choose one surgical technique over the other which should be considered during the consultation process for both eyelid and eyebrow surgery.

A brow lift is sometimes performed in conjunction with a facelift to provide a younger overall look to the face. Blepharoplasty is additionally preferred if a patient has some excess skin that sags onto the upper eyelids.
