Botox is a cosmetic procedure that aims to make the skin look younger. Botox is the name of the toxin that is used in eliminating wrinkles around the eyes and on the forehead, as well as in the treatment of diseases like migraine and excessive sweating. The diluted toxin is injected into certain areas of the skin, relaxes the facial muscles, and reduces the visibility of lines and wrinkles. Botox remains effective for approximately four to six months.
We do not recommend you to do physical exercise after botox since working out can affect the results:
We recommended that you avoid simple movements such as bending over or lying down for at least four hours. It is crucial for you to avoid physical activity for at least 24 hours after your botox application to see the full effects; however, some physicians require you to avoid exercising for a week for better treatment outcomes.
You will be provided with a list of activities to avoid after the botox injection. In addition to not touching your face, you will be recommended to stay away from certain daily activities such as alcohol and caffeine intake, applying pressure to the injection area, bathing, taking blood-thinning painkillers, sunbathing, extreme cold or heat, makeup, cleaning, and plucking your eyebrows.
After being injected into specific regions of the face, botox will be absorbed by nerve endings and will prevent muscles from contracting and the wrinkling of the skin for a while. It is known that this purified toxin is absorbed by the nerve endings after five to ten minutes. However, for the proteins in the toxin to spread properly in the subcutaneous surface, you should avoid exercise involving head movements and raising your blood pressure for a certain period of time in order not to risk your outcomes. In addition to preventing botox to spread properly, you should remember that this region will be prone to edema and bruising if you exercise. Increased blood pressure will trigger edema. Remember that the head equipment used particularly for sports such as swimming and cycling can exert pressure on the regions where botox was injected.
Exercising within three to seven days after your botox injection may negatively affect your cosmetic procedure, since this is when botox is fully active. During this time, you can take care to rest and take some time for yourself. You can choose a few slow workouts that won't make you sweat.
